Senior Software Engineer

Epic Sciences, Inc. is developing novel diagnostics to personalize and advance the treatment and management of cancer. Epic’s mission is to enable the rapid and non-invasive detection of genetic and molecular changes in cancer throughout a patient’s journey.  The company was founded on a powerful platform to identify and characterize rare cells, including circulating tumor cells (CTCs).  Our technology helps match patients to targeted therapies and monitor for drug resistance, so that the best treatment path can be chosen at every clinical decision point.  Today, we partner with leading pharmaceutical companies and major cancer centers around the world.  Epic’s goal is to commercialize our technology to increase the success rate of cancer drugs in clinical trials and improve patient outcomes by providing physicians real-time information to guide treatment choices.

POSITION SUMMARY: This role requires deep experience as a software developer with a focus on designing and developing web-based applications and services.

ELEMENTS:

Education/Experience:  7+ years of software development experience; B.S in a relevant field preferred or 8+ years of relevant experience; strong experience with middle layer web application and API development, ASP.NET technologies (entity framework, razor, blazor), cloud-based web service design, front-end web (react, javascript, typescript, redux) development, back-end web service design, general competence in programming practices, architecture, design patterns, and unit testing.  Further, preferred experience would include these areas:  C, C++, C#, python development, Cloud (AWS, Azure), SQL and MySQL, working in a regulated environment, HIPAA and CLIA compliance, web security, and developing workflow related software in a laboratory environment.

Communication Skill: Good basic skills, effective listening/critical questioning skills to understand design requirements and clarify points of uncertainty

Interpersonal Skill: Works effectively both as an individual and part of a team; can manage relationships with external customers effectively.

Judgment: Able to complete work with little supervision, reasonable ability to craft a solution and persuade others it is the right approach; ability to foresee potential system interactions and some ability to identify long term solutions, ability to work with others to share specifications and the reasoning behind constraints

Execution: A reasonable mastery of design/coding; the ability to offer recommendations to resolve specific issues, ability to defend/critique choices in order to produce an optimal solution

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Ability to integrate third party API’s into a single, seamless platform
• Ability to design internally consumed API’s
• Ability to design and implement middle and back end web applications
